Little Did I know …

by Christoph on February 13, 2008

Little did I know what to expect when I wrote about the Google Toolbar earlier this week. I am kinda shocked what happened and how the response was. The one thing I am glad that Matt Cutts provided some clarification – even though I think it is still a problematic issue and so do many people as well. My main issue was that I had a custom 404 page, but Google still took it over. Now I know that they ignore custom 404 pages smaller than 512 bytes in file size. The other test where I had seen this was with a Sharepoint installation – it seems like that the default 404 page in MS Sharepoint is smaller than 512 bytes in size as well (unconfirmed!). So, I guess with the clarification from Matt this actually turned into something good – even though there is still a lot of discussing going on and the question if this is the right way to do.

Anyway – the excitement is over and life is slowly coming back to normal. If you are new to the blog, feel free to browse around. I am mainly writing about affiliate marketing and PPC mixed with very little SEO. Thanks for visiting and welcome.
