Forum’s Sale and Network update

by Christoph on February 27, 2009

It’s now over 2 weeks ago since my large forum’s website was handed over and the money landed on my bank account. Initially I checked on it for the first 2 or 3 days, but you know what – I haven’t pretty much since then. My email volume is significantly lower and I am actually a little more productive (well, maybe that is “desperation” as I need to generate new streams of income now … ha ha). I did not realize how much time I really spend on running that forum. ;)

Anyway – since a large portion of my online income has now vanished I need to come up with new stuff. I am actually way ahead on a few projects that I had planned for this year (and of course others are still limping behind as a result of that, too). Main problem right now is building up traffic. Traffic to some newer or smaller sites is the issue at the moment and I have to become more creative for sure.

I have been on the lookout for some baby/parenting/pregnancy related offers on the different affiliate networks, but the market did not seem to have much. Last week I got a call from Marketleverage again (and again it went into voicemail – Chelsea always calls when I am not there). Anyway – they had 2 suggestions and so I checked out their offers. One suggestion has yet to generate revenue, but the second one (an email submit offer) is actually doing pretty good generating between $5 – $10 per day so far. So, I am hoping that offer will stay around for a while. I am not doing PPC against the offer and all traffic organic – so, the numbers are low, but I guess that’s how it works sometimes.

My excursions into Payday have been zero lately, but only due to the fact that I have a developer working on an API integration. That project is coming to an end very soon and I hope to start with more Payday loan activity soon.

I have also been picking up smaller websites from Sitepoint or Digitalpoint. One I picked up for the content and maybe some link love (301 redirect is in place now). I integrated that site into an existing one and redirected the acquired domain name to my already existing site. It cuts down time for me to get content and to build up traffic. Keep in mind this is on a small scale though and each site maybe added 30-60 new visitors per day to my network. I am thinking long-term though.
