I have almost all of my roughly 160 domains registered with Enom.com. I do have a reseller for many years and special pricing on top of it. In the past Enom had made it really easy to search for new names and to register them. They domain name suggestion tool worked great and often helped to pick up a nugget when a main keyword domain name was already taken.
I do not remember when they changed their website, but I think it is maybe 6-8 weeks that they changed the look of the website a little bit and also completely revamped the domain name registration process. To be honest – the new domain name suggestion tool SUCKS. It sucks big time. I am very disappointed about Enom Inc. how they could do this.
For one the suggestions for other names are really bad. Then they moved the location of the suggestions further down so that you cannot really see them anymore after trying 2-3 domain names. Then the upsell by “picking” other extensions by default. Example: I searched for a name and .com/.net/.org were taken and their system selected .ME by default. I did not like it and seached again and found a different .com that I liked. I hit the add to cart button and now had my .com and the other .me in there. Really bad. Enom is not a service for normal customers, but mainly for resellers or domainers with large portfolios. I would assume that 90% of the customers at Enom know a little bit about domain names and that it is NOT necessary to try to trick them into a domain purchase.
So, I hope Enom gets feedback like this here and improves their site again. Otherwise I will be moving all my sites off to other providers that have better tools and a better interface.
