If you are running a business, time is money. Many years ago I had started several website using a content management system called Evo Articles. 2 years later the company shut down and the software was no longer supported. Over the years I was able to migrate 2 websites over to WordPress and it was quite some work. I still have 3 websites that need to be converted. I did start working on the first conversion today and after 30 minutes within the painful and slow process I had enough.
I went over to oDesk and logged into my account. I posted a quick job listing for data entry and 15 minutes later I had 15 applicants wanting to do the job for me. What was the job? No, I did not wanted this scripted – instead I had posted a fixed price prroject to do a 1:1 copy and paste job from the website straight into a new WordPress installation. I assume it will take roughly 2 minutes per article (if at all) which makes for about 300 minutes of work (= 5 hours). My offer was reasonable for this kind of work, but dirt cheap from my perspective. I had compared what other data entry jobs pay, added a little bit on top of it and posted the job.
So, instead of me doing a MySQL conversion to match the database structure and then import the content or me doing copy and paste work, I am able to do some real work. I love oDesk. If you run a business and are not outsourcing the easy work, you are leaving money on the table.
